How To Use Pepper Spray

1. Flip open the safety cap

2. Depress the lever to start the pepper spray

3. Use pepper spray canister in a windshield wiper motion, spraying back and forth

4. If possible try to spray the person on the front of the shirt under their chin. This will cause the pepper spray to stick to the clothing and keep the pepper spray effective even when you have stopped spraying.

5. Also if possible a direct spray in the eyes will immobilize and incapacitate the person.

Pepper Spray may not be effective in all cases, but a majority of the time pepper spray will incapacitated an attacker.

Pepper spray can be a very useful tool for personal defense. The U.S is in a major economical depression and people are getting desperate, even people who before the economic crisis would never think of turning to crime to pay the bills. Women are the most common victims of violent and non-violent crimes.

The difficult times has also caused stress to other types of people who would think nothing of committing more violent crimes. There has been an increase in the amount of child abductions in the last three years.

• · An estimated 58,200 non-family abductions occur annually in the U.S. with an estimated 115 being stereotypical kidnappings.
• · Stereotypical kidnapping is defined as a non-family abduction perpetrated by a slight acquaintance or stranger in which a child is detained overnight, transported at least 50 miles, held for ransom, or abducted with intent to keep the child permanently, or murdered.
• · In 40% of the stereotypical kidnappings, the child was killed and in 4% of stereotypical kidnappings the child was not recovered.
• · The most common victims are adolescent girls ages 11-14 yrs, and boys 6-9 yrs.
• · Teenagers were by far the most frequent victims of both stereotypical kidnappings and non-family abductions.
• · Nearly half of all children who are victims of stereotypical kidnappings and non-family abductions were sexually assaulted by the perpetrator.

In southern California in the last year there have been three high profile abductions in which the teenage girls were abducted by a stranger, sexually assaulted and murdered. Two of the girls were going to or leaving school and the third was jogging in a community park.
